Poker was played at Yossi's by Adrian, Jonah, Jona, Eric, Yossi, Gary and Richard, Adrian's nephew (who finished the evening 9 shekels the richer). Gary and Adrian are opening up a huge gap at the top. Eric is descending rapidly into bankruptcy. Nik is pleased he has missed the last two weeks. At least he hasn't got any poorer.

Poker at Jonah's

Poker was played at Jonah's last night. Adrian, Rafi, Gary, Eric, Yossi and Jonah played. Adrian had this to say about the evening's entertainment:
"It was actually a pretty crazy night: Jonah got in a big fight with his neighbours about the noise we were making, fortunately Josey used his great diplomatic skills and his considerable size to cool the situation down; car crash outside the apartment involving lots of shouting, police and ambulances; AND Jonah set fire to his shirt when cooking the sausages. Girth of certain body parts were measured, with Jonah's being indisputably the thickest (although, certain unconfirmed estimates believed that Jona could be a challenger). Plenty of crisps and drink."
Once more, it appears that I missed a great night's fun. Damn. The graph is opening up like {insert rude comment about Jona's grandma here}.

Poker at Adrian's

Last night we all played poker at Adrian's place. We played on his balcony. The weather was perfect. We ate hot dogs in hot dog buns, with onion rings and latkes. There wasn't enough fizzy pop. We didn't listen to any of Adrian's two or three CDs (thankfully, because I think we've all had enough of Frank Sinatra by now).
Adrian was the big winner, and Eric the big loser, though Jonah did quite well too. The graph is becoming interesting. There are three distinct groups developing. Adrian, Gary and Rafi and all very much up, while Eric, Nik and Jona are all very much down. Jonah and Yossi are bumping along the zero line. Does this mean that some people are actually better at poker than other people? Or must we remember that a couple of good or bad weeks can change things quite drastically?
Jona's 85 year old grandmother featured quite heavily in yesterday evening's banter. I'm not quite sure what Jona did to deserve that, but it was all very amusing.
Equally amusing was yet another hi-lo cock up, and Adrian's betting heavily on a three of a kind (or full house?) that he quite patently didn't have. Oh, and Jona's failing to see the straight that he quite patently did have.
Gary would like you all to know that next week we are at Jonah's.

Poker at Rafi's

On Monday we played poker at Rafi's place. The Kings in attendance were Nik, Jonah, Eric, Adrian, Gary, Yossi, and our host, Rafi. Dinner was hamburgers and chips, served in pre-cut buns. There were burgers left over. Nik ate veggie schnitzels. Yummy yummy.
We drank the new flavours of fanta - orange/mango, and pineapple/grapefruit. The former was quite disgusting. The second smelt of semen. This observation led to an interesting discussion of what Adrian used to eat for dinner as a young child. If you clicked on the link above, you will have noticed that Fanta are doing one of those campaigns where they get people to film their own ads and send them in. So get your thinking caps on and perhaps we'll shoot and ad or two at Adrian's and win the prize!
We also played some poker. Undoubtedly the highlight of the evening, at least to judge by the crowd's response, was Rafi's huge bet for a low hand that didn't exist. He bet 5, Yoss raised him ten, which he saw and raised another ten (I think. Anyway, you get the point). Then he proudly displayed what he thought was the nuts low, only to realise, at the very moment of displaying his cards, that there weren't three low cards on the table. What a dick, but how funny for everyone else, especially Yossi.
Gary was the evening's big winner, zooming up into second place in the overall rankings. Jonah, Eric and Yossi all had dire evenings. Just imagine how much worse Yossi's would have been without Rafi's incredible screw up.
Next week at Adrian's (happy, Gary?).
